Coming from Cozi

Cozi's free calendar stops 30 days out. Family life doesn't.

On the free version of Cozi you can enter events from the Agenda view for the next 30 days; unlimited future calendar is a Cozi Gold feature at $39 a year, and the free tier is supported by ads and sponsors (cozi.com, checked 13 September 2026). household.email has no date wall and no ads — plus your household gets an email address that turns school notices and booking confirmations into calendar events on its own.

Free early access. No spam, ever.

Cozi vs household.email

Everything in the Cozi column comes from Cozi's own published pages, checked 13 September 2026. Where they're better, we've said so.

  Cozi household.email
Free tier limits Events can be entered from the Agenda view for the next 30 days. Unlimited future calendar access requires Cozi Gold. No date-range limit on any tier. Put next August's school holidays in today.
Ads Cozi's FAQ describes the free version as supported by ads and sponsors. Gold and Max are ad-free. No ads, on any tier, ever. We'd rather charge you than sell your attention.
Price Free with ads. Cozi Gold is $39 USD/year. Cozi Max is $79 USD/year. One subscription covers everyone in the account. Free while we're in early access. When we do introduce pricing we'll tell waitlist members first, and one price will cover the whole household, however many people are in it.
Email to calendar & todos Cozi emails you a daily agenda. Turning an incoming email into an event is AI Event Import, which Cozi lists on the Max plan ($79/year) only. Core to the product, not an upsell. Forward an email — or connect Gmail, iCloud, Outlook or most other email accounts — and we suggest the events and todos hiding inside it.
Chores and fairness Shared to-do lists you can assign to specific people, plus a Chores feature in the iOS and Android apps with daily and weekly recurrence. Chores rotate automatically between the adults and children in the household, and we keep a record of who actually completed what — so "whose turn is it" has an answer that isn't an argument.
Shared shopping lists Yes, on every tier. Shopping Mode — the sorted, tick-off-as-you-shop view — is a Gold feature. Yes, on every tier. Shared in real time across web and mobile, with labels and tick-off built in.
AI assistant AI Event Import, AI Recipe Creator and AI Meal Planner are listed on Cozi Max ($79/year). A household assistant you can ask plain-English questions — "what's on this weekend?", "did anyone buy milk?" — answered from your own email, calendar, todos, chores and lists. Rolling out during early access.
Calendar sync Read-only integration with Google, Outlook and Apple Calendar, plus calendar links you can subscribe to for things like school and sports calendars. Two-way sync with Google Calendar, a connection to your iCloud calendar, and a link that puts the household calendar in any calendar app on your phone or computer.

Why people go looking for a Cozi alternative

These are the things Cozi documents about itself. Whether they matter depends on your household.

The 30-day wall shows up exactly when you need it

School terms, camps, flights and the family holiday all get planned months ahead. On free Cozi, the Agenda view only takes events 30 days out, so the moment you start planning properly you hit the upgrade prompt.

Ads in the middle of your family's week

Cozi's own FAQ says the free version is supported by ads and sponsors. Some people genuinely don't mind. Others find that a shared family calendar is a strange place to be advertised at.

The good bits are spread across three tiers

Month view on mobile, calendar search, three reminders per event and Shopping Mode sit behind Gold at $39/year. The AI features sit behind Max at $79/year. Working out which tier you actually need is its own small chore.

Calendar integrations only run one way

Cozi describes its Google, Outlook and Apple Calendar integrations as read-only. Events flow in, but something you add in Cozi won't appear in the calendar app you already live in.

In fairness to Cozi

Cozi has been keeping families organised for well over a decade and the free tier still does a lot — shared calendar, shopping lists, to-do lists and a recipe library, for nothing. We have a recipe book and a meal planner of our own now, but when pricing starts they sit on Pro rather than the free tier, and there's no library of recipes to browse in ours — on free, Cozi is still the one with the recipes. If a shared calendar within the next month is all you need, Cozi free is a perfectly good answer and we'd rather you kept it than switched for the sake of switching.

Nothing to move across. You start fresh — and it's faster.

There's no way to copy your Cozi data over, and honestly you wouldn't want one. Half of what's in there is stale. Instead, your household gets its own email address, and the emails you already receive do the setup for you.

  1. 1

Your household gets an email address

One inbox the whole household shares, instead of school newsletters landing on one person's phone and nobody else's.

  2. 2

Forward the emails you already have

The class newsletter with three dates in it, the swimming term confirmation, the dentist reminder, the Airbnb booking. Forward them across, or connect your Gmail, iCloud, Outlook or most other email accounts and let them arrive on their own.

  3. 3

Your calendar and todo list fill themselves in

We read the dates, times and actions out of each email and suggest them back to you as calendar events and todos. You confirm or dismiss — nothing lands on the family calendar without a human saying yes.

  4. 4

Add the chores once, then stop thinking about them

Chores rotate between the people in your household automatically, so the bins aren't quietly one person's job forever. That part takes about five minutes and it's the last time you'll set it up.

Nothing to export. Nothing to re-type. Your old Cozi account can sit there until you're sure.

We're asking to read your household's mail

That's a lot to ask. Here's what we will and won't do with it.

No ads

There are no ads in household.email and no plans to add them. It's free while we're in early access and paid for by subscriptions after that — never by selling your attention.

We never sell your data

Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Your household's email, calendar and lists are yours — we're a subscription, not a data business.

Your email never trains an AI model

We use AI to pull dates and tasks out of your mail. The AI companies we use are bound by their terms not to train their models on what we send them. We don't train models on it either.

You can leave whenever you want

Disconnect Gmail or any other email account you've connected, at any time, and we stop reading. When you want to go entirely, there's a delete button on your account page that removes your household and everything stored in it — email, attachments, calendars, todos, chores and lists — for good. No email to write, no waiting on us.

The details are in our privacy policy, written in plain English.

No 30-day wall. No ads. No hard feelings.

household.email is in early access. Join the waitlist and you get in free while we build. No card, no trial clock, no export to untangle later. If it isn't for you, keep what you've got — nothing lost.

One email when your invite is ready. No spam, ever.
