Deleting your account

You can delete your household.email account, and your household's data with it, yourself. Here is exactly what that does.

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Delete it yourself

  1. Sign in at household.email, in a browser or in the iOS or Android app.
  2. Open your account page, from the menu under your name.
  3. Press Delete account, at the bottom of the page, and confirm.

The page names any household that will be deleted along with your account before you confirm. Deletion is immediate and permanent: there is no grace period and nothing to undo it with.

What gets deleted

Your account always goes: your email address, your name and date of birth, your sign-in history, your API keys, your mail app passwords and your calendar feed token.

If yours is the only account that can sign in to your household, the household goes with it, and that means all of it: the email we hold for it and every attachment, the household mailbox itself, the calendar and its events, todos, chores, shopping lists, meal plans, recipes, the people on the member list, and the connections to any Gmail, iCloud or IMAP account you linked. Any subscription is cancelled first, so billing stops.

If other people in your household have their own accounts, the household's shared data stays with them and only your account is deleted. The last account to leave takes the household with it.

What we keep afterwards

None of your household's content. We keep no separate archive of deleted households, so there is nothing left to expire. Ordinary server logs may record that requests happened for a short while afterwards; they hold no mail, calendar, list or chore content.

Mail already delivered to someone else's own mail app, or already on a calendar you subscribed to from another app, is on that device and outside our reach.

If you cannot sign in

Email hello@household.email from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will do it within 30 days and confirm when it is done. Ask in the same email if you want a copy of your data first, or if you want something more specific deleted rather than the whole account.

The rest of it

What we collect in the first place, who it reaches and what we never do with it is in the privacy policy.
